Samuel S. Conn, Ph.D.
Samuel S. Conn, Ph.D. was appointed Southern Polytechnic State University’s Chief Information Officer in March 2012. Dr. Conn was formerly Vice President for Information Technology and Director of Online Learning at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, GA. Prior to these positions, he served as Director of the Institute for Distance and Distributed Learning at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) and as Chair of the Computer Information Systems Department at Regis University in Denver, Colorado.
Dr. Conn also has extensive Information Technology experience in the corporate world, having worked for 23 years in the private sector with a wide range of organizations including executive level Information Technology positions for a mortgage/real estate services corporation, a health care and pharmaceutical corporation, a Russian-American software development company, and the parent company of the largest NASCAR™ franchise. He began working in higher education in 2001.
Dr. Conn holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, a master’s degree in computer information systems and a doctorate in information systems. He is widely published on the topics of information systems, educational technology, e-learning networks, system development methodologies and epistemic belief research.
